Editing
Editing can be a big, scary monster, but it doesn’t have to be! Both aspiring writers and weathered authors alike have their reservations about the editing process. Part of that is due to the confusion surrounding different kinds of editing, terms that are used interchangeably, but are actually quite distinctive. For example, the terms “copy editing,” “line editing,” and “developmental editing,” are completely different things. Between the editors I've looked at over the years, they all seem to have their own definitions for these terms. I don't know about you, but I like things to be simple! Below, you'll find a brief definition of each type of editing I offer, which should dispel any confusion. Whatever kind of editing you need, I'm looking forward to helping you with your book!
Copy Editing:
$0.03 per word
Copy editing is your standard technical pass. If you're confident in your story and just want to double check your grammar, this is for you!
I will be going through your book with a dedicated eye, ensuring to address spelling errors, proper capitalization and punctuation, correct formatting of extraneous works, and all things related to syntax.
Line Editing:
$0.06 per word
Line editing is more developmental by nature, and focuses on telling your story as effectively as possible. If you think a character arc isn't quite where it should be, or a scene isn't feeling the way you want it to, this is for you!
I will be looking to maintain your exact writing style, bear in mind the important themes and plot points in your book, and make sure ideas flow naturally and relate to the core of your story.
Important Note about Editing (Payment):
For longer works, payment plans can be made available. Request a payment plan in your contact email, and we can discuss further.
Cover Design
They say not to judge a book by its cover, but ironically, that sentiment applies to almost every area of life except for literature. The cover of a book needs to do many things: it has to grab the attention of a potential reader, introduce them to your story’s ideas or themes, and then compel them to open it up and read it! This is no small order, but with the right cover, your book can do just that!
As an independent, self-published author, I understand the necessity of stretching every dollar, which is why my rates for cover design will rival almost any other you can find. Should you decide to work with me, I will do my absolute best to distill your book’s concepts into an eye-catching visual format that’s sure to put a smile on your face! Whether you need a full cover or just a front cover, I’m looking forward to designing something for you!

*Custom Work
The cover work I do can be entirely layout-based, which means I find and arrange the elements that best suit your book. Or, if you would prefer to have something truly custom, hand-drawn, or drawn digitally, that would be an additional fee, as it would require much more time to create.
Additional pricing may vary depending on the complexity of the requested design.
Important Note about Cover Design:
To be able to create a full, wraparound cover, I will need the exact dimensions of your book, which means that your book MUST be complete.
If your book is incomplete, I can begin by designing the front cover, to show you what part of your full cover will look like, and then complete the other sides later.
Ghost Writing
Starts at $10,000
WHAT THIS IS:
You and I working together to take down, organize, and format your ideas into a finished book.
(This will include editing and cover design at no additional cost)
WHAT THIS IS NOT:
Me writing your book for you.
Ghost writing can be a tricky thing, and a sticky subject for a lot of writers and editors out there, which is why I want to explain very plainly what this is, and, more importantly, what it is not. The Oxford Dictionary defines a ghost writer as "a person whose job it is to write material for someone else who is named the author." Primarily speaking, ghost writers are meant to fill in and provide technical and storytelling expertise for people who cannot write for themselves, but still have ideas that they want taken down.
This means that for the most part, the types of books being ghost written are memoirs, storybooks, or educational material. The client provides their ideas to the ghost writer, and the ghost writer then formats those ideas into the required flow, structure, and pacing to be read as an easy-to-understand book. This is an important distinction to make because ghost writing is not someone thinking "I've got this idea for a novel, here are some things I want to happen, figure it out." Your story is your own, and I will not write it for you.
To give you an example of a work that I ghost wrote, visit the Gallery Tab and scroll down to the book Non-Convincing Language by David L. Anderson. He is labelled as the author because all of the ideas and concepts communicated within the book are his own, and all I did was organize, trim, and format them into a book. I did not write it for him; at the beginning of the project, he sent me a 50 GB folder that contained all of his knowledge and resources related to the book he wanted, which I then combed through, distilled the necessary elements, cut unnecessary repetition, and organized into the finished book.
All of that to say, if you have stories from your life or any educational material that you would like to share with the world, then I can help you take those ideas and turn them into a published book!
Important Note about Ghost Writing:
This is a highly collaborative and time-intensive process. Bearing that in mind, I will be very selective about which projects I take on, and reserve the right to deny any projects that may lie outside of my personal interests or beliefs.
